Around a tiny town.

We're gearing up here in the village and getting ready for the holidays. Some of us have even decided to put up the tree (a ritual usually saved for right after the Thanksgiving meal.)
Dana & Greg have been creating some fabulous OOAK furniture from recycled vintage salvage. Lovely unique pieces that will make perfect holiday gift purchases. Imagine a vintage sleigh bed up-cycled into a deacon's bench upholstered in plaid & toile. Photo's of this unique piece to come. Darly's vintage dolls & teddy bears are getting dressed and poised in preparation for the holidays. A few new puppies have added to the village population while the sorrowful loss of one pet has left a large void. Nov. 14th was an afternoon of Bluegrass as Howard's band picked on perfectly at the Historical church's dessert day. The band will be back for a Bluegrass Christmas in December & hopefully we will be able to organize on short notice to go caroling through the town again. Ingrid is working on her original hand painted watercolor Christmas cards and we even have a budding "star" as a gifted child in town has been invited to Hollywood California to partake in an intellectual game show. Imagine!
Where does all the time go? The Christmas cactus are beginning bloom and we are not nearly as prepared as we had hoped. How are your holiday preparations going?

at the Country Store...

We're gearing up for some great sale items to post and working on a sweet give-away to kick off the opening of our blog. While we are busy gathering great finds and pricing items.................
things around her seem to be going to the dogs! We have some great "pooch" themed items that will be going in the shop and perhaps some to post here. A darker palette has come into play with the onset of fall and we're digging through boxes of pine cones feathers and Thanksgiving decor to decorate our homes.
Grandma's recipe for apple-cranberry stuffing is tacked to the fridge door and we are already racking our brains for some new turkey-left-over recipes. Any one interested in sharing your yummy recipes for left over Turkey please email them on to us. We plan to do a special post for the occasion and a recipe entry will award you with 2 chances to win our fall giveaway !

The Old Mill

Today we buddied up for a trip to the old grain mill. To say the mill is a rustic surrounding is an understatement so we always go as a pair. The floor boards are loose and sagging and the air is fogged with corn dust. I m amazed that these men have no noticeable respiratory ailments as they wear no masks. Crazy. After having the truck loaded up with sacks of feed we headed north to our favorite outdoor flea market. Acres of farmers & antique dealers selling their wares on what surely must be close to the last day of tolerable weather for this "al fresco" market. We had some sweet finds that we'll be listing soon so keep a close eye here for our first listing of goodies.
